Telehealth Services Q&A

What are telehealth services?

Telehealth allows you to get mental health services online. Instead of traveling to the office, you can stay at home (or wherever you happen to be) and use your smartphone, tablet, or computer to have a face-to-face video conference.

What mental health conditions are treated through telehealth services?

The experienced therapists at Huron Street Wellness Center treat every life challenge and mental health condition you might face through telehealth services. They often help people with any of a variety of issues, such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Relationship issues
  • Life transitions
  • Family conflict
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs)
  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

The team also helps members of the LGBTQIA+ community, offering support, guidance, and therapy for all of their challenges, ranging from gender-affirming decisions to learning to cope in the face of unfair and difficult societal attitudes toward transgender and nonbinary people.

What services can I receive through telehealth?

You can receive the same services through telehealth that you would get during an in-person visit. They include:

Psychiatric diagnostic assessment

During your first telehealth visit, your Huron Street Wellness Center provider reviews your medical history, learns about your symptoms and concerns, and completes a psychiatric diagnostic assessment.

For the next step, they discuss a treatment plan, recommending medication management, psychotherapy, or both. Then you schedule your next follow-up appointment. You can keep using telehealth or decide to visit in person at any time.

Medication management

Your provider prescribes medications during telehealth visits. At each follow-up appointment, they evaluate your symptoms and monitor for potential side effects.

Psychotherapy

Studies show that getting therapy through telehealth is just as effective and offers the same quality of care as in-person therapy. And virtual therapy visits are more comfortable and productive for people with issues like anxiety, autism, and ADHD.

The Huron Street Wellness Center therapists are highly trained in many therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

Integrative therapies

Huron Street Wellness center enhances your well-being and quality of life with integrative therapies that support your body, mind, and spirit. For example, they may teach meditation or stress management, or suggest dietary changes. They also recommend therapeutic yoga.
